EMA Monomer Liquid (Slow Dry) is designed to work as the liquid component of a professional acrylic nail system.
When a suitable acrylic brush is saturated with monomer and then introduced to compatible acrylic powder, the liquid and powder combine to form a workable acrylic bead. This bead can then be placed, pressed, guided, and sculpted over the natural nail, nail tip, or nail form.
Unlike gel systems that normally require a UV or LED lamp for curing, traditional acrylic systems polymerize and harden through their own chemical reaction after the monomer and powder are combined.
The Slow Dry characteristic provides a longer working window before the acrylic becomes firm. This gives the technician more opportunity to position the bead correctly, smooth the surface, refine the architecture, and make controlled adjustments during application.
It is particularly useful for professionals performing detailed sculpting and for technicians who prefer a more relaxed application speed instead of working with an extremely fast-setting acrylic system.
What Is EMA Monomer?
EMA stands for Ethyl Methacrylate, a monomer commonly used as a liquid component in professional acrylic nail enhancement systems.
The monomer is combined with a compatible acrylic polymer powder to create the sculptable material used for acrylic nails.
The liquid should never be used by itself as a finished nail coating.
Its purpose is to interact with an appropriate acrylic powder so the technician can create and shape the nail enhancement before the material hardens.

How To Use
Step 1 – Prepare the Natural Nails
Begin by sanitizing the hands and assessing the natural nails.
Gently push back the cuticles.
Remove non-living tissue from the nail plate.
Shape the free edge where appropriate.
Prepare the nail surface according to the acrylic system being used.
Avoid aggressive filing of the natural nail.
The objective is proper preparation, not thinning the nail plate.
Step 2 – Remove Dust and Surface Residue
After preparation, thoroughly remove filing dust.
Use suitable nail-preparation products such as dehydrator or primer only when required by the acrylic system.
Follow the manufacturer's directions for every preparation product used.
Step 3 – Apply Nail Form or Tip if Required
For sculpted extensions, correctly position a compatible nail form beneath the free edge.
For tip extensions, properly size, apply, blend, and prepare the tip according to professional technique.
Ensure the extension is aligned before acrylic application begins.
Step 4 – Pour Monomer Into a Dappen Dish
Pour only the quantity of liquid needed for the service into a clean professional dappen dish.
Avoid working directly from the original bottle.
Keep the main container securely closed whenever possible.
Using a dappen dish helps maintain a cleaner professional working process.
Step 5 – Saturate the Acrylic Brush
Dip a clean acrylic brush into the monomer.
Allow the brush hairs to become properly saturated.
Gently press or wipe the brush against the side of the dappen dish to control excess liquid.
Do not aggressively crush or damage the brush hairs.
Step 6 – Pick Up an Acrylic Bead
Bring the prepared brush into contact with a compatible acrylic powder.
Allow the appropriate amount of powder to collect onto the brush and form a workable bead.
The exact liquid-to-powder balance depends on:
The acrylic powder • Monomer • Brush size • Room conditions • Technician technique.
Avoid assuming one identical bead ratio works for every acrylic system.
Step 7 – Allow the Bead to Settle
After picking up the bead, allow it to reach the appropriate workable consistency.
The bead should not be excessively runny or excessively dry.
A properly controlled bead makes placement and sculpting easier.
Step 8 – Place the Acrylic
Position the bead carefully on the required area.
Depending on the technique, separate beads may be used for:

Step 9 – Press, Pat and Guide
Use the body and tip of the acrylic brush to gently press and guide the material.
Avoid repeatedly dragging the product.
Control the acrylic using deliberate movements.
The slow-dry formulation provides additional time for refining the shape.
Step 10 – Build the Structure
Create the appropriate architecture for the extension.
Pay attention to:
Apex: Provides structural balance where required.
Sidewalls: Should appear aligned and symmetrical.
Cuticle Area: Keep application thin and controlled without flooding the surrounding skin.
Free Edge: Maintain appropriate thickness for the selected length and shape.
Step 11 – Allow the Acrylic to Harden
Once application is complete, allow the acrylic to polymerize fully.
A traditional acrylic system does not require UV/LED lamp curing.
Do not begin aggressive filing while the material remains soft.
Step 12 – File and Refine
After the acrylic has fully hardened, refine:
Length • Sidewalls • Free edge • Surface • Apex • Overall shape.
Use appropriate files or an electric nail drill only according to professional technique.
Avoid filing into the client's natural nail or surrounding skin.
Step 13 – Buff the Surface
Buff where required to refine the finished surface.
Remove all filing dust afterward.
Step 14 – Apply Color or Top Coat
Complete the enhancement with:
Gel polish • Regular nail polish • Nail art • Compatible top coat.
If using gel color or gel top coat, cure those specific gel products according to their UV/LED instructions.
The acrylic itself does not require lamp curing.
